(DOT&PF) is looking for an Airport Police & Fire Officer 5 / Deputy Chief of Operations to help usKeep Alaska Moving!
What you will be
doing:
The Airport Police and Fire Officer 5 (Deputy Chief-Operations) at Anchorage International Airport (ANC) Police and Fire Department is responsible for overseeing and managing law enforcement Aircraft Rescue Firefighting rescue operations hazardous material response EMS code enforcement safety and general emergency response functions to protect and care for those traveling to and from as well as working at ANC. This role includes managing staffing equipment and the provided budget to ensure readiness and response capabilities. The Deputy Chief will make recommendations for departmental policy changes and is empowered to interpret and enforce department policies and procedures to fulfill the mission. This position is responsible for the administration and management of up to 54 employees including 12 Airport Police and Fire Officer (APFO) leads 41 subordinate officers and a Criminal Justice Technician. The incumbent may also assume responsibility for managing and directing the entire department including the Airport Communication Center and associated administrative duties in the Chiefs absence.

AIRPORT SECURITY BADGE
Candidates for this position must be eligible for an airport identification badge in accordance withTransportation Security Administration (TSA) regulations (49 CFR 1542) which requires fingerprinting and a criminal background check. The successful applicant must pass a fingerprint-based criminal history record check as well as a comprehensive background investigation along with a Transportation Security Administration Security Threat Assessment.
APSIN CLEARANCE
Candidates for this position must obtain and maintain Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN) certification which requires fingerprinting and a criminal background check. A felony conviction disqualifies a person from APSIN certification. Misdemeanor convictions may also disqualify a person from APSIN certification. The successful applicant must pass a fingerprint-based criminal history record check as well as a comprehensive background investigation.
ARMS & AMMUNITION REQUIREMENT
This position requires the use of firearm or ammunition. If you have been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence you may not hold a position in this job class in accordance with the Federal Omnibus Consolidated Appropriations Act of 1997 (PL). A misdemeanor crime of domestic violence means an offense that:
is a misdemeanor under Federal or State Law; and
has as an element the use or attempted use of physical force or the threatened use of a deadly weapon committed by a current or former spouse parent or guardian of the victim by a person with whom the victim shares a child in common by a person who is cohabiting with or has cohabited with the victim as a spouse parent or guardian of the victim.
