Job Description

Senior Project Manager - Major Mining Development
Location: Hammerfest Norway

We are expanding our team for a significant mining development in Northern Norway and are seeking a highly experienced Senior Project Manager to help lead the project through its next phases. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a dynamic and impactful initiative in a region known for its natural beauty and strategic importance.

Role Overview

As the Senior Project Manager you will oversee the full lifecycle of a large-scale mining projectfrom feasibility and engineering through procurement construction commissioning and handover. You will lead multidisciplinary teams ensure regulatory compliance and drive performance in line with sustainability and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Foster a strong safety culture across all project phases.
  • Promote environmentally responsible practices aligned with national sustainability goals.
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure alignment with corporate objectives local regulations and environmental standards.
  • Develop and manage project plans budgets and schedules.
  • Oversee integrated Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) activities.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant Norwegian legislation and permitting requirements.
  • Manage contracts including negotiation execution and performance monitoring.
  • Identify and mitigate technical and commercial risks.
  • Lead and mentor a diverse team of professionals.
  • Collaborate with local stakeholders and consultants to support regional development.
  • Report transparently on key performance indicators (KPIs) including cost schedule safety and environmental impact.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the project.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering (Mining Civil Mechanical or related field).
  • At least 15 years of experience in large-scale mining industrial or heavy civil projects.
  • Proven leadership in managing EPC or EPCM projects valued at several hundred million USD or more.
  • Experience in Scandinavian or similarly regulated environments is a strong asset.
  • Deep understanding of mining sector engineering procurement and construction processes.
  • Familiarity with Norwegian environmental and HSE regulations.
  • Proficiency in project controls contract management and reporting tools.
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language is highly preferred.
  • Must be eligible to work in Norway and willing to be based at or travel frequently to the project site.
