Job Title: Dance Instructor
Location:Arts at the Capitol Theater (ACT) Performing Arts Magnet High School
Reports To:Principal
Employment Type: Full-Time / School Year (10 months)
Start Date:August 2025
EASTCONNs Arts at the Capitol Theater (ACT) is seeking a passionate and dedicated Dance Instructor to join our faculty. The ideal candidate will inspire and train students in a variety of dance styles while fostering creativity discipline and artistic expression. This role involves teaching both technique and history choreographing performances and preparing students for college programs and professional careers in the arts.
Develop and deliver high-quality instruction in multiple dance genres (e.g. ballet modern jazz hip-hop contemporary and cultural dance forms)
Create a safe inclusive and dynamic classroom environment that supports all learners
Design and implement lesson plans aligned with state standards and the schools performing arts curriculum
Prepare students for performances showcases and external competitions or adjudications
Choreograph original pieces for school concerts recitals and interdisciplinary productions
Provide individualized feedback and mentorship to support each students growth and artistic development
Collaborate with faculty across disciplines for integrated projects and productions
Maintain clear communication with students parents and school leadership
Attend faculty meetings professional development sessions and school events as required
Required:
Bachelors degree in Dance Dance Education or related field
Demonstrated experience teaching dance to high school students or in a pre-professional training program
Strong foundation in dance technique and pedagogy
Ability to choreograph for various skill levels and styles
Preferred:
Masters degree (MFA . or equivalent)
Certification in Dance Education or state teaching licensure
Experience in arts integration or cross-disciplinary collaboration
Passion for teaching and the performing arts
Excellent classroom management and communication skills
Creative flexible and culturally responsive teaching approach
Commitment to equity inclusion and student-centered learning
Strong organizational and time-management abilities
