Job Description

The Dance Coordinator is responsible for the planning development and administration of the park districts dance program. This includes creating seasonal class schedules hiring and supervising dance instructors managing registration and communication with families and producing the annual dance recital. The ideal candidate is organized creative and passionate about delivering high-quality engaging dance programming for youth.


This is a part-time position 10-15 hours per week.

Pay range is $30/hour-$35/hour


  • Plan schedule and implement a diverse range of dance classes for various age groups and skill levels.
  • Recruit hire train and supervise part-time dance instructors.
  • Develop class descriptions recommend pricing and submit seasonal program information for the recreation guide.
  • Teach one or more dance classes per session as needed.
  • Coordinate substitute coverage when instructors are unavailable and serve as a substitute instructor when necessary.
  • Communicate with participants and parents regarding class information cancellations and program updates.
  • Oversee and manage the annual dance recital including logistics costumes rehearsals and communication with families.
  • Monitor class quality and instructor performance; provide feedback and support as needed.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records and program evaluations.
  • Ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all participants.
  • Collaborate with marketing staff to promote dance programs and special events.
  • Stay current on dance trends child development and recreational best practices.


Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; degree or coursework in dance performing arts education or recreation preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in dance instruction choreography or arts program coordination.
  • Prior experience supervising staff or managing programs preferred.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and support a team of instructors with professionalism and enthusiasm.
  • Knowledge of various dance styles and age-appropriate techniques.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Must be available to work evenings and weekends as needed.


Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in indoor recreational facilities and dance studios with occasional outdoor events.
  • Requires physical activity including standing walking bending lifting (up to 25 lbs.) and demonstrating dance movements.
