Job Title: Senior Drilling Rig Mechanic
Department: Maintenance / Field Operations
Location: Site-Based (Africa or International Assignments)
Reports To: Maintenance Manager / Operations Manager
Language: English (Fluent)
Experience Required: 10 years in mineral exploration and grade control
Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Senior Drilling Rig Mechanic with extensive experience in field-based diagnostics maintenance and repair of exploration drilling rigs (Core RC Multipurpose). The role requires a technically proficient mechanic who can operate independently in remote and challenging environments. Prior experience in Africa is an advantage but not essential.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on exploration drilling rigs
- Perform on-site diagnostics and emergency repairs
- Troubleshoot mechanical hydraulic pneumatic and electrical issues
- Maintain engine hydraulic and compressor systems
- Document service reports and recommend equipment improvements
- Train and support junior mechanics and rig helpers
- Comply with all HSE and safety protocols
- Coordinate with base/workshop for overhauls and parts
Technical Expertise:
- Hydraulics: Circuit diagnostics system repair
- Engines: Diesel engine maintenance (CAT Cummins Perkins Deutz)
- Compressors: Atlas Copco Sullair onboard and stand-alone units
- Rig Brands: Boart Longyear EDM Schramm Austex Sandvik UDR etc.
- Tools: Skilled in using diagnostic tools wiring diagrams gauges
Qualifications & Requirements:
- 10 years of relevant mechanical experience
- Experience on Core RC and Multipurpose rigs
- Fluent in English
- Vocational or technical diploma in mechanical or heavy equipment maintenance
- Prior field experience in Africa or similar remote settings preferred
