The Opportunity
Were seeking a skilled Electrical Workshop Technician to join a dynamic multi-disciplinary team supporting the development and testing of revolutionary clean energy technology. Youll work alongside engineers and scientists in state-of-the-art laboratory facilities contributing to the installation operation and maintenance of test equipment and reactor prototypes.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Operations:
- Set up and prepare electrical systems equipment and instruments for experiments and customer systems
- Fabricate and maintain electrical subsystems and components for test equipment
- Perform routine maintenance troubleshooting and calibration of electrical equipment
- Assist in conducting electrical experiments tests and research projects
Data & Documentation:
- Collect and analyse electrical data using testing instruments
- Record and document test results accurately and timely
- Follow SOPs to ensure consistency and reproducibility
- Collaborate with team members to analyse and interpret data
Problem Solving & Development:
- Troubleshoot electrical issues and resolve technical problems
- Assist in development and optimisation of electrical systems and lab procedures
- Ensure equipment compliance with safety standards and regulatory guidelines
Essential Requirements
- Level 3 Electrical Engineering qualification (City & Guilds BTEC NVQ or equivalent)
- 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations qualification
- 5 years electrical experience OR 3 years as electrical technician in engineering/laboratory environment
- Experience with electrical systems maintenance testing and troubleshooting
- Strong communication skills and team collaboration abilities
- Proficiency with electrical wiring circuits and testing equipment
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
- Experience with PLC control systems and data logging
- Safety-focused with strong understanding of electrical safety protocols
- High attention to detail and quality standards
Desirable Skills
- Piping welding soldering or fabrication experience
- Forklift license (FLT)
- 5S methodology knowledge
- Electrical simulation software experience
- ATEX-rated environment experience
