Job Description

Employee will perform entry level trades work maintaining inspecting and operating pump stations maintaining and inspecting sewer lines multi-hearth incinerator centrifuges and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the close supervision of the Electrical/Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor or designated staff.

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED

Competencies/Experience:

  • Basic knowledge of organization and departmental policies practices and procedures methods tools and materials associated with the operation and maintenance of wastewater conveyance systems with particular emphasis related to the electrical and mechanical components; basic knowledge in the use of standard office equipment and applicable software; basic knowledge of preparing a variety of documents and reports; basic knowledge of tools materials and equipment used in general construction electrical mechanical and maintenance work; basic knowledge of utility interceptor maintenance and construction practices; basic knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work; some knowledge of traffic laws ordinances and regulations pertaining to operations of motorized equipment and traffic control procedures; ability to work from blue prints and sketches; ability to understand oral and written instructions; ability to operate assigned constructive equipment with skill; ability to work independently; ability to make arithmetic computations; ability to compute rates ratios and percentages; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with engineers contractors vendors regulatory agency representatives associates and the general public.

License or Certification:

  • Ability to complete all of the designated WSACCs Environmental and Health Training (EHS) for this position by the end of the first calendar year after employment.
  • Complete hands-on CPR/First Aid when offered by employer
  • Arc Flash/SCBA-Fit Test/Confined Space and Fire Extinguisher training within 12-months of employment.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain a Forklift Operator certification within 3- months of employment.
  • Develop the skills to safely operate a backhoe within six months of employment.
  • Employee shall demonstrate they possess all of the skills of and successfully perform the duties as a Electrical-Mechanical Maintenance Technician I and meet expectations for all performance criteria to become eligible to move to Level II.
  • Obtain a Work Zone Safety certification for the State of North Carolina when offered by employer
  • Possession of a valid NC drivers license upon employment and obtain a Class A NC CDL within 18 months of employment.
