AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design planning delivery and operation of all AWS global other words were the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers storage networking power and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We are looking for a Data Center Engineering Operations Technician to join our expanding Infrastructure Operations team. A Data Center Engineering Operations Technician role is a hands-on electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting and operation responder. If you like to use apply your electrical and mechanical skills to solve problems wed like to meet you. Your work will help to maintain one of the worlds largest information system infrastructures.
Key job responsibilities
SAFETY
Follow and maintain the highest safety standards and diligently encourage a world-class safety culture. As a facility owner team ensure remediation of safety risks/issues in conjunction with other teams. Own the safety initiatives and projects to foster strong safety culture.
ENGINEERING & FACILITY OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE
- Operational experience and familiarity with electrical and mechanical equipment including Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPSs) Switchgear Circuit Breakers Automatic Transfer Switches (ATSs) Diesel Generators Chillers Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC) Exhaust Fans Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and Transformers.
- Troubleshoot events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
- Take daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment through routine rounds/log-taking (temperatures voltages currents etc.)
- Supervise contractors who perform servicing or preventive maintenance
- Manual handling and lifting of equipment may be required (weight limits in accordance with health & safety regulations).
- Ability to work shifts

- Knowledge of safe electrical practices according to guidelines set by relevant electrical safety supervisory bodies (e.g. ECSSAI and RECI in Ireland)
- Professional Electrical or Mechanical Certification (National Craft Certificate (NCC) Registered Electrical Contractor (REC) or equivalent) or a level 6 engineering qualification
