About DRASA:
DRASA (Dr. Ameyo Stella Adadevoh) Health Trust is a public health nonprofit organization working to build a strong and resilient health system that is accessible to all prepared to handle emergencies and able to provide quality care that saves lives. Named in honor of Dr. Ameyo Stella Adadevoh who played a key role in containing the Ebola virus outbreak in Nigeria in 2014 DRASA works to strengthen health systems improve disease prevention and control and enhance emergency preparedness and response through four core program areas: antimicrobial resistance (AMR) infection prevention and control (IPC) community health and hygiene (CHH) and health security (HS).
Position Overview:
The Corporate Communications Manager leads and owns DRASAs entire communications function setting strategy overseeing execution and managing the team to ensure all internal and external messaging is clear consistent and aligned with the organizations voice and values. You will drive media relations crisis communication donor and stakeholder engagement and cross-functional collaboration while supervising the Digital Communications Officer and Communications Associate to deliver compelling storytelling that advances DRASAs mission and visibility.
Tasks
1. Communications Strategy & Planning
- Lead the development of the communications strategy annual work-plan and budget aligned with DRASAs strategic goals.
- Maintain and update a corporate messaging guide to ensure clarity and brand consistency across all channels.
- Establish and maintain a system for the continuous flow of information between the Communications and Programs teams taking ownership of proactively gathering and sharing updates on program activities and impact.
2. External Communications & Media Relations
- Develop media engagement plans to increase national and international awareness of DRASAs programs and technical capacity.
- Author and oversee all external-facing materials such as press releases op-eds executive speeches donor updates and annual reports.
- Build and nurture relationships with journalists and media outlets; proactively pitch stories and respond to press inquiries.
- Work with experts partners and media to position DRASA as a thought leader in public health discussions.
- Create public-facing knowledge products to drive stakeholder engagement and solidify DRASAs positioning.
3. Content Development & Storytelling
- Produce and edit long-form content (whitepapers case studies blog articles) in collaboration with program teams.
- Identify Health Champion success stories and translate technical findings into accessible narratives for diverse audiences.
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Monitoring Evaluation Research and Learning (MERL) to transform data insights into press launches learning briefs and stakeholder reports.
- Work closely with Partnerships to develop fundraising materials donor stewardship materials and partner communications ensuring personalised engagement and impact-driven communication.
5. Crisis & Reputation Management
- Develop and maintain crisis-communication protocols including holding statements and rapid-response messaging.
- Monitor media and social sentiment; act as the primary escalation point for high-stakes inquiries.
6. Brand Governance & Vendor Management
- Define visual identity guidelines and brand standards.
- Brief onboard and manage external design and video partners to ensure all assets adhere to DRASAs brand.
- Ensure all partnerships represent the DRASA brand adequately.
7. Analytics & Reporting
- Track and analyze key KPIs (media mentions share of voice sentiment campaign performance).
- Prepare and present quarterly communications impact reports with data-driven recommendations.
8. Team Leadership & Oversight:
- Provide direct supervision and strategic guidance to the Digital Communications Officer and Communications Associate. ensuring alignment with DRASAs overarching communications goals maintaining consistency in messaging and tone across all channels and supporting professional growth through regular feedback planning and collaboration.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Communications Public Relations Journalism or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in communications public relations or a related role.
- Strong writing editing and storytelling skills with the ability to tailor content to diverse audiences.
- Experience in developing and implementing communication strategies and plans for public health and/or nonprofit programs and activities.
- Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience working in the public health and nonprofit sector.
- Preferred: experience in communications for communicable diseases
