Job Description

6-8 MS ESL Lift Curriculum Implementation Leaders

Description:

The 6-8 MS ESL Implementation Team will support teachers in implementing the Lift ESL Curriculum. The team will work with the EL Director to develop a vertically aligned standards-based uniform and culturally relevant scope and sequence using Lift from Cengage plus a novel study in grades 6-8. Attend 4 in-person meetings to produce work products with grade level teams.

The team will create deliverables such as:

  • the pacing calendar
  • Supplemental resources for the novel unit
  • matching grammar to the Lift unit
  • any other products deemed necessary by the team

The team will ensure that the content emphasized will make rigorous rich and meaningful language learning experiences accessible to all students especially our historically marginalized students.

Requirements:

  • 6-8 ESL teacher with strong communication skills or EL Coordinator
  • Knowledge of the English Language Arts and Literacy Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and WIDA Proficiency Standards

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Rich and varied experience with ESL curriculum and instruction
  • Strong growth mindset and collaborative skills
  • Student-centered approach to instruction with high expectations for student achievement

Compensation: Up to $1200 based on $40/ hr for 30 hours outside of school time

Working Time:

  • Summer dates:
    • July 2nd @ 12:00 - 3:00pm
    • July 16th @ 12:00 - 4:00pm
    • July 30th @ 12:00 - 4:00pm
    • August 12th @ 12:00 - 4:00pm
    • August 19th (New Staff Orientation) @ 1-2:30pm

  • School Year Dates:
    • September 10th 3-4:30
    • Ocotber 1st 3-4:30
    • Oct 27th 3-4:30
    • Nov 12th 3-4:30
    • Dec 3rd 3-4:30
    • Jan 7th 3-4:30
    • Feb 4th 3-4:30
    • Mar 4th 3-4:30
    • April 1st 3-4:30

Number of Positions: 9 (up to 3 per grade level)
