Westfield Public Schools seeks qualified applicants for the following position:
JOB SUMMARY:The autism assistant will:
- Maintain a high level of reinforcement for appropriate behaviors.
- Implement a behavior management plan.
- Assess new behavior problems using ABC analysis.
- Develop appropriate materials for instructional programs.
- Keep classroom materials organized.
- Use necessary data collection strategies.
- Follow classroom daily schedule.
- Develop programs or task analysis as per request.
- Promote communication in all activities.
- Insure student in continually engaged in productive activities.
- Use strategies of applied behavior analysis such as promoting fading shaping and chaining.
- Ensure student is engaged in appropriate balance of leisure and work activities.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Be responsive to parents.
- Function as integration facilitator and fosters independence without allowing students to fail.
- Collaborates with staff specialists and other children to incorporate into regular activities.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by his/her supervisor designee or Superintendent of Schools.
REPORTS TO: Special Education Supervisor and Building and terms of employment will be commensurate with the Westfield Public Schools Unit D on this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Westfield School Committee policy on evaluation.
