Hiring Range: $24.79 - $29.74 Per Hour

Range Explanation:

  • Hiring Range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors including your skills qualifications experience education licenses training and internal equity.

  • Pay Range is the entire compensation range for the position.

This position provides complex paraprofessional administrative support for the Pima County Elected Official Human Resources Division. Duties differ from the Department Personnel Specialist I Elected Official classification due to the higher level of complexity autonomy and responsibility involved. This position may be responsible for staff supervision.

Essential Functions:

As defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act this classification may include any of the following tasks knowledge skills and other characteristics. This list is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by incumbents of this class. Work assignments may vary depending on the departments need and will be communicated to the applicant or incumbent by the supervisor.

  • Facilitates coordination of HR activities with other departmental sections County departments and external agencies acting as the internal liaison for support functions such as personnel management purchasing payroll and program-specific activities;

  • Reviews and verifies HR-related documentation and initiates necessary actions to ensure compliance and accuracy;

  • Responds to inquiries from the public and staff providing information or resolving issues related to departmental policies and procedures or directing questions to the appropriate HR personnel;

  • Represents the HR division in various committees and working groups and may be authorized to commit departmental resources to specific initiatives;

  • Coordinates schedules and organizes HR calendars and meetings to ensure efficient operations and communication;

  • Leads the preparation and processing of HR-related accounting documentation including requisitions purchase orders claims and fund transfers;

  • Creates and maintains specialized HR databases ensuring accurate data entry retrieval and the production of complex reports for analysis;

  • Monitors and manages HR agreements contracts and other compliance documents with relevant agencies contractors and service providers;

  • Conducts research compiles information and performs initial analysis preparing routine and special reports correspondence personnel forms and operational manuals for supervisory review;

  • Summarizes statistical and operational data to prepare periodic and special reports relevant to HR functions;

  • Assists in budget preparation for the HR division tracking expenditures and reporting on budgetary activities to the supervisor;

  • Conducts and documents confidential inquiries for management while maintaining the security and confidentiality of sensitive information;

  • Establishes and maintains specialized reference files and materials relevant to HR operations;

  • May supervise train and evaluate support staff providing recommendations on hiring terminations and other HR-related personnel activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associates degree from an accredited college or university with a major in human resources public administration business administration or a closely-related field as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment AND one year of experience performing complex paraprofessional administrative support in human resources or public administration.

OR:

Two years of experience with Pima County in a Department Personnel Specialist I Elected Official Administrative Specialist I or closely-related position as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment.

Selection Procedure:
Pima County Human Resources Department reserves the right to admit to the selection process only those candidates that meet the minimum qualifications. All applications will be assessed based on an evaluation of the listed education and experience. Candidates meeting the minimum qualifications may be further evaluated/scored against any advertised Preferred Qualifications. The hiring authority will interview and select the successful candidate from a referral list provided by Human Resources. Additional assessments/testing may be required as part of the selection process.

Supplemental Information:

License and Certifications: Valid driver license is required at time of application.ValidAZdriver license is required at time of application. The successful applicant will be subject to a 39-month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review to determine applicants suitability to operate county vehicles in accordance with Pima County administrative procedures. Failure to maintain the required licensure shall be grounds for termination.

Special Notice Items: The County requires pre-employment background checks. Successful candidates will receive a post-offer pre-employment background screening to include verification of work history education and criminal conviction history. A prior criminal conviction will not automatically disqualify a candidate from employment with the County. Some positions may require satisfactory completion of a personal background investigation by the court or law enforcement agencies due to the need for access to County Attorney and Court facilities records and communication systems.
