Staff Accountant

Engineered Air Balance is looking for a Staff Accountant to join our dynamic team in the Dallas area. Our ideal candidate will be someone with accounting knowledge and is detail oriented. We are looking for an analytical individual who will be responsible for learning and applying the concepts and practices of accounting and other finance activities.

The Position

The Staff Accountant will work in our Dallas Texas office. This position supports the Finance Team by maintaining financial records assisting with reporting and ensuring routine accounting processes run smoothly including processing bi-weekly payroll. The Staff Accountant is responsible for learning and applying accounting principles while working collaboratively across departments to support financial operations and organizational efficiency.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Record miscellaneous cash receipts and cash adjustments for operating account
  • Reconcile monthly bank statements for various accounts
  • Assist with monthly expense reimbursement process for Branch employees
  • Prepare and record general ledger entries and maintain/reconcile monthly subsidiary ledgers to balance sheet accounts
  • Compile code and record transactions from corporate card charges and American Express
  • Assist Finance Team with Accounts Receivable functions as needed including issuance of lien letters to delinquent customers
  • Update and maintain fixed asset and depreciation schedules
  • Determine and remit Sales and Use Tax if applicable
  • Update and maintain Branch property inventory lists
  • Maintain updated W9s for vendors
  • Follow all internal control policies and assist in company audits as needed
  • Collect support for audit requests (financial 401(k) benefits etc.)
  • Maintain all sensitive information with the utmost confidentiality
  • Perform all aspects of Accounts Payable for the Branch office and Corporate office including weekly check and electronic funds transfer (EFT) disbursements and vendor set up maintenance
  • Collect payroll imports and prepare payroll for bi-weekly distribution and special payrolls as required
  • Receive and audit timesheets for payroll and submit them to the branch manager for approval. Once approved prepare the monthly hours log
  • Manage employee records in the accounting system including onboarding new hires updating payroll details (withholdings benefits pay rates) and processing final pay and termination closures
  • Keep up-to-date with changing rules and regulations by reading professional publications personal networking and/or participating in professional organizations
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field preferred.
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience in related field required.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel Word PowerPoint SharePoint)
  • Experience with accounting software preferred (FreshBooks QuickBooks Trimble Viewpoint-Vista)

  • Mathematical and deductive reasoning skills
  • Strong computer competency with knowledge in Microsoft Office 365.
