Girton Grammar School is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic academic leader tojoin our school community as the Head of Faculty - Arts in January 2026.
This is a three-year fixed-term positionand is supported by an ongoing underlying teaching position.
About the Position
The role of Head of Faculty of Arts at Girton Grammar School encompasses a multifaceted responsibility spanning across Music Drama and the Visual Arts departments. This position plays a crucial role in fostering cohesion and a shared vision within the faculty while spearheading both creative and academic pursuits.
The Head of Faculty holds the pivotal responsibility of steering both staff and students towards excellence. This entails not only providing guidance but also creating an environment where every individual feels inspired and empowered to enhance their artistic abilities and comprehension. Effective leadership in this context involves employing diverse methods to motivate staff thereby enhancing the overall capability and capacity of the faculty.
This role is also instrumental in curating events that are not only vibrant and enjoyable but intellectually stimulating and inclusive. These events serve as platforms for students to showcase their talents while also promoting engagement within the school and broader community. Its essential that such initiatives are grounded in a scaffolded learning approach ensuring that each activity is designed to facilitate optimal outcomes and adhere to best practices in arts education.
The Head of Arts Faculty is responsible for ensuring the delivery of the schools pedagogical model across the department to a high standard enabling all students the opportunity and support they need to excel academically and personally. By maintaining high standards of teaching and learning and by fostering an environment of inclusivity and excellence the Head of Arts Faculty plays a crucial role in helping students navigate their educational journey and achieve their aspirations to access their preferred future at the end of their journey at Girton Grammar School.
