Position #22411: Para/FP/LAP
Posting Dates: 06/24/2025 - 06/30/2025 (OR Until Filled)
Location:Legacy High School
Hours:
7 Hours per Day 180 Days per Year

This position will begin with 2025-2026 school year. New hires may attend paid training days in August.

JOB DESCRIPTION


The paraeducator will work with students individually and in groups in both the regular classroom and in an office seperately under the supervision of the principal. The paraeducator will provide clerical assistance hallway and lunch supervision and perform other job-related duties as needed.


To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  1. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Must have an AA degree OR 72 quarter college credits OR 48 semester college credits OR a passing score on the ETS test.
  3. Mustattach unofficial transcriptproving AA degree or equivalent to application. Official transcripts of all levels of education including high school required within 30 days of hire.
  4. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
  5. Must be able to meet the Physical Demands of the position.
  6. Must pass a basic skills test.
  7. Completion of Safe Schools Web Based Training within 30 days of hire and yearly thereafter.
  8. Must pass a background check which includes employee paid fingerprinting.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  1. Required academic skills to assist students (i.e. knowledge in sciences language arts math reading and social studies).
  2. Bi-lingual in Spanish
  3. Must uphold board policies and follow administrative procedures.
  4. Must take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities.
  5. Must attend in-service trainings or other meetings as required as well as attend any training as directed by management.
  6. Evidence of ability to assess and correct issues involving safety.
  7. Evidence of ability to establish and maintain a tactful cooperative and effective relationship with students parents staff fellow employees and management.
  8. Evidence of ability to approach assigned work in a professional manner working toward the common goal of teamwork pride in service delivery and continuous improvement
  9. Must demonstrate sufficient command of the English language to communicate verbally and in writing with students parents district staff members and other concerned people regarding all aspects of their job related activities.
  10. Must be able to use basic computer programs to maintain records enter timecard information and read and respond to email.
  11. Must be first-aid certified if required.
  12. Evidence of strong academic background in grade level content areas of reading writing and math. Candidates may be tested to meet minimum qualifications.

QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED

  1. Recent experience supporting migrant or ELL students in regular education programs.
  2. Proficent in providing supplemental reading instruction.
  3. Recent work with PASS packets with students.
  4. Knowledge of second language acquistion effective ESL strategies and methods.
  5. Able to take initiative and carry out tasks with a minimum of direct supervision.
  6. Able to maintain confidentiality.
  7. Create a warm positive learning environment by encouraging students.
  8. Flexible and able to work in a team situation.
  9. Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills.
  10. Able to work closely and cooperate with teacher supervisors.
  11. Training and/or experience in using computers able to use Microsoft Office and other technology applications.
  12. Positive recommendations and performance evaluations.
  13. Evidence of excellent attendance punctuality and dependability; evidence of able to be self-disciplined and a self-starter.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assist with instruction as directed by certificated staff using developmentally appropriate activities.
  2. Carry out plans and activities for students as designed by the classroom teacher.
  3. Work cooperatively with parents staff and students.
  4. Participate in assessment activities.
  5. Prepare instructional materials as requested.
  6. Provide direct support to migrant or ELL students in need of remediation accommodations inregular education classes.
  7. Assist teachers with needed clerical or instructional tasks.
  8. Assist in supervision and control of students in order to promote a safe orderly positive learning climate.
  9. Complete required paperwork with accuracy and efficiency to maintain compliance with state and school district regulations.
  10. Perform all duties of the position within the scope of Kennewick School District policies and procedures including regular attendance and punctuality.
  11. Perform other job related duties as assigned.
