Position Summary
The primary responsibility for this position is Eligibility Certification & Monitoring for the Athletic Department. Manage and monitor all athletic eligibility processes for SOUs 13 varsity sports in the NAIA . Assist in the determination and certification of initial and continuing eligibility of all student-athletes to include: certification processing and submission; the review and management of transcripts; transfer history and all forms related to transfer students; credit assessment and recommendations; letters of intent and institutional student forms. Work closely with the Director of Athletics Compliance Director and Faculty Athletic Representative in the certification of eligibility and rules application. Process contact notifications and release requests (tracer forms) to and from SOU and transfer institutions. Process on-going eligibility through the NAIA help software. Maintain student records including academic worksheets eligibility check sheets waivers and other special documentation pertaining to the students eligibility in accordance with NAIA Conference and SOU published guidelines and running grade checks and end-of-term grade reports. Responsible for all facets of Eligibility Management for all of our student-athletes. Candidate must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of individuals. Must maintain a positive and cooperative attitude toward the duties of the job.
Physical Demands
Normal office activities such as sitting at a computer answering phones lifting up to 25 pounds and interacting with students faculty and staff.
Duties
May include assisting with fundraising outreach and student-athletes award events.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelors Degree OR the equivalent of four years experience in student services. Experience with BANNER SIS or another student information system. Experience working in an applicable higher education setting. Experience with NAIA rules regulations policies and procedures Experience working with college student-athletes on academic achievement and progress toward degree. Knowledge of college-level athletic program structure competitive standards and federal (Title IX) mandates
