Summary
The IT Applications Manager supports the mission of The Museum of Flight by overseeing the development implementation and maintenance of software applications and their corresponding data sets within the Technology department. This role is essential in enhancing operational efficiency improving user experience and ensuring that technology solutions align with the Museums mission and goals. The Applications Manager will collaborate with the Director and various Museum departments to analyze data identify needs manage projects and provide strategic direction for application-related initiatives.

- Application Development & Management: Lead the design development and implementation of software applications that support museum operations including visitor management collections management and online engagement platforms.
- Project Leadership: Manage application-related projects from inception to completion ensuring timely delivery adherence to budget and alignment with organizational objectives.
- User Support & Training: Provide training and support to staff and volunteers on the use of applications ensuring effective utilization and troubleshooting of issues as they arise.
- Collaboration: Work closely with various departments to gather requirements assess needs and develop tailored solutions that enhance operational effectiveness.
- Vendor Management: Liaise with software vendors and service providers to negotiate contracts manage relationships and oversee the integration of third-party applications.
- Data Management: Ensure the integrity security and accessibility of application data implementing best practices for data management and compliance with relevant regulations.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay current with technology trends and best practices recommending enhancements and upgrades to existing applications to improve functionality and user experience.

Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelors degree in computer science Information Technology or a related field or commensurate experience.
- Five (5) years of progressive experience in application management with a strong preference work in non-profit organizations or cultural institutions such as museums galleries or educational entities.
- Demonstrated experience in leading teams and managing cross-functional projects highlighting the ability to deliver technology solutions that meet organizational needs.
- Experience with various programming languages (e.g. Java Python JavaScript) database management systems (e.g. SQL NoSQL) and cloud services (e.g. AWS Azure) is highly desirable.
- Proven track record in managing technology projects including planning execution monitoring and closing using methodologies such as Agile or Waterfall.
Knowledge
- Strong understanding of enterprise application ecosystems including CRM ERP CMS and custom
integrations - Familiarity with application lifecycle management: design deployment patching and retirement
- Knowledge of relational databases (e.g. SQL Server MySQL) and data integration techniques (e.g. APIs ETL
pipelines) - Understanding of SDLC methodologies (Agile Scrum Waterfall) and project management principles
- Awareness of data privacy laws and software compliance standards relevant to non-profits or educational
institutions - Familiarity with vendor and contract management especially regarding SaaS platforms
- Knowledge of software testing methodologies and quality assurance processes
- Understanding of ITIL practices as they relate to service delivery and incident/problem management for
applications.
Skills
- Proficiency in data architecture system integration and API development to facilitate interoperability
between legacy and future systems. - Expertise in vendor management contract negotiations and stakeholder communication to ensure
alignment with institutional objectives. - Effective troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for diagnosing application-related issues and
implementing resolutions. - Advanced analytical skills to assess software capabilities and alignment with broader organizational
strategies.
Abilities
- Ability to lead the selection implementation and support of enterprise applications in a cross-functional
environment. - Capacity to translate business requirements into technical specifications and system workflows.
- Skilled in prioritizing and managing multiple concurrent application support or implementation projects.
- Ability to streamline operations by analyzing existing workflows and identifying optimization opportunities.
- Capable of troubleshooting complex application issues and coordinating with vendors or developers for
resolution - Able to mentor and train staff on software tools updates and best practices.
- Adept at managing stakeholder expectations and fostering positive relationships between IT and user departments.
- Proficient in analyzing system usage and performance data to drive enhancements and user adoption.
- Comfortable making data-informed decisions and recommending technology improvements that align with strategic goals.
License & Certification
- ITIL 3 required ITIL 4 preferred.
- PMP and Agile a plus.

- This position is primarily Monday through Friday during core business hours with the anticipation of additional hours including evenings and/or weekends based on Museum need.

- Comfortable working in confined workspaces.
- May occasionally work on overhead catwalks ladders of varied heights and elevated platform lifts.

Paid-Time Off

Compensation
The salary range for this position is $89000to$133000depending on experience.
Should you receive an offer please expect that it can fall anywhere within this range. A multitude of factors will determine a fair salary based on the following: scope of role within the organization years of relevant experience specific skills and evaluation of capability to execute in role successfully (among other critical factors).
