Job Description

Valley of the Sun United Way is looking for a Human Resources Generalist. The Human Resource Generalist serves as a vital point of contact for employees at all levels of VSUW. The HR Generalist primary responsibility will be to support new employee onboarding manage employee files administer benefits and leave requests.

The HR Generalist will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Facilitates HR Orientation/New Employee Orientation and coordinates onboarding processes.
  • Maintains all personnel files to ensure current and up-to-date to include HRIS entry.
  • Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Generates required reports and performs audits as needed.
  • Reviews tracks and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training continuing education and other personnel records.
  • Benefits and Leave Administration
  • Provides in-depth benefit presentation and provide enrollment materials based on eligibility for all new hires during the onboarding process and open enrollment.
  • Reviews employee benefit enrollments for accuracy and assists in resolving benefit issues
  • Enrolls employees with carriers and process life status changes..
  • Responds to benefits inquiries on plan provisions benefits enrollments and status changes.
  • Effectively interprets FMLA and ADA implications as they relate to leaves of absences/disabilities. Processes and administers all leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork: medical personnel disability and FMLA.
  • Completes annual reporting for employee benefits: ACAK Workers Comp Unemployment etc.
  • Maintains compliance with federal state and local employment laws and regulations and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends best practices regulatory changes and new technologies in human resources and employment law.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.



Requirements

Required Education & Experience

Bachelors degree in Human Resources Business Administration or related field required.

At least one year of human resource management experience preferred. SHRM-CP a plus.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Excellent interpersonal negotiation and conflict resolution skills.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.

Ability to act with integrity professionalism and confidentiality.

Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the VSUWs HRIS.
