Position OverviewThe Airport Operations Manager plays a critical leadership role overseeing all station operations to ensure the delivery of a safe efficient and customer-friendly travel experience. This position leads a cross-functional airport team drives key performance metrics and ensures full compliance with federal and internal regulations and standards. You will inspire a culture of accountability safety and operational excellence while managing daily logistics and long-term team development.
Key Responsibilities Operational LeadershipOversee daily station operations to ensure flights depart safely and on time.
Ensure all crew members adhere to company values procedures and regulatory requirements.
Establish clear goals and expectations; hold team accountable to performance standards and KPIs.
Maintain appropriate staffing levels and oversee daily scheduling to support operational needs.
Create a proactive safety culture with open communication around risks or concerns.
Achieve zero aircraft damage and successfully pass internal and regulatory safety audits.
Maintain FAA-compliant training records and ensure all crew members remain current in certifications.
Inspire loyalty and satisfaction through exceptional customer service and smooth airport operations.
Act as the escalation point for customer issues and resolve them locally and professionally.
Drive performance toward customer satisfaction metrics and reduce complaint escalation.
Foster collaboration across departments including Inflight Flight Operations Tech Ops and other stations.
Build strong relationships with airport authorities vendors and regulatory agencies.
Represent the company during audits and inspections conducted by FAA TSA OSHA and others.
Oversee timekeeping operational reporting supply procurement and budget control.
Monitor and manage GSE (Ground Support Equipment) repairs and servicing.
Use performance data to identify trends and implement corrective actions to improve efficiency.
Hire train and mentor Station Supervisors Agents and Trainers.
Support employee development growth and engagement.
Administer performance documentation including coaching evaluations and separation letters as needed.
Build and maintain work schedules using timekeeping systems such as Teamwork.
Minimum of 8 years of airline station operations experience.
At least 5 years in a management role preferably in a commercial airline setting.
Proven ability to lead teams in a fast-paced safety-critical environment.
Strong understanding of FAA TSA and OSHA regulations.
Excellent communication leadership and problem-solving skills.
Ability to perform physical tasks (standing lifting up to 70 lbs climbing etc.) in all weather conditions.
Proficient with operational tools and systems; experience with scheduling and timekeeping platforms preferred.
Must become qualified and remain current in all responsible disciplines including Ground Security Coordinator within 30 days of hire.
Valid U.S. drivers license required.
Flexible schedule including availability for nights weekends holidays and overtime as necessary.
