Sports Information Director
Summary
The Sports Information Director is supervised by the VP & Director of Athletics and supervises under graduate students. Works closely with coaches and other administrators.
Range: $40000 to $45000
Responsibilities
- Develops and implements a comprehensive public relations program to help Talladega College achieve the goals established for Intercollegiate Athletics.
- Provides public relations advice and counsel to the Director of Athletics other athletics administrators coaches and student-athletes.
- Provides information to electronic and print media outlets develops publications for all sports programs maintains statistical data records and history on current and past College student-athletes and teams and develops and maintains an effective presence on the web and with the most appropriate forms of new media.
- Prepare media packets set up and coordinate the operations of press facilities for home intercollegiate athletic competition.
- Set up interviews requested by the media (radio print or television) with Talladega College athletes and coaches.
- Prepare and distribute seasonal media guides.
- Report scores statistics and game details to media in the sport viewing area.
- Compile maintain and distribute when appropriate statistics for all athletic programs.
- Report all statistical information to the Conference and National Office.
- Assume all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor and/or administrator.
Qualifications- A Bachelors degree is required with an emphasis in English Communications Journalism or Public Relations preferred.
- At least three years of experience in sports information sports public relations sports reporting or a related field is required.
- Have knowledge of NAIA statistical requirements and/or usage of DAT statistical software.
- Experience in and/or an appreciation of the use of the web and new media and experience in printing publication design.
- Experience with computers the web and new media and statistical software are required.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and effective interpersonal skills are required.
- Must be able to meet deadlines and provide strong organizational and management skills.
Other
The position frequently requires extended workdays and work weeks including weekends as well as overnight out of town travel particularly during the fall and spring semesters to attend athletic events.
