Job Description
Job Title: Maintenance / Handyman (Live-In Accommodation Provided)
Location: Caledonian Hotel Ullapool
Job Type: Full-Time
Reports To: Duty Manager
Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Maintenance / Handyman to join our team at our 3-star hotel. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of repair and maintenance tasks to ensure the hotels facilities are safe functional and well-presented for guests and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance tasks including plumbing electrical carpentry painting and general repairs.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests and hotel staff.
- Conduct regular inspections of hotel facilities and equipment to identify and resolve issues.
- Maintain the hotels exterior areas including gardens walkways and parking areas.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Coordinate with external contractors when specialized repairs are needed.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and inventory of tools and supplies.
- Assist with setting up rooms or event spaces as needed.
- Provide emergency support for urgent maintenance issues outside of regular hours (on-call rotation may apply).
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a handyman or in a maintenance role preferably in a hospitality setting.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing electrical systems HVAC and general building maintenance.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physically fit and able to lift heavy objects and work in various conditions.
- Flexibility to work weekends holidays and on-call shifts as required.
- Relevant certifications (e.g. PAT testing health & safety) are a plus.
