We are excited to partner with them to add a General Accountant to their team. This role will report directly to the Controller and manage key accounting operations for the company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Payroll Processing: Lead the end-to-end weekly payroll process for the employees ensuring accurate and timely payroll every cycle (multi-state payroll compliance included). Payroll experience is required for this role.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable: Oversee the payables and receivables functions. This includes processing vendor invoices and payments managing expense records and handling customer payments. You will also manage customer billing/invoicing for our projects ensuring invoices are sent out promptly and accurately and following up on receivables.
- General Ledger & Month-End Close: Assist with and perform month-end and year-end closing activities. Prepare journal entries reconcile balance sheet accounts and help produce monthly financial statements and reports. Ensure the general ledger is maintained accurately and in compliance with accounting standards.
- Financial Reporting & Analysis: Support the Controller in preparing financial reports and analysis. This may include contributing to monthly management reports budget vs. actual analysis and providing financial insights to support decision-making.
- Compliance & Process Improvement: Ensure compliance with relevant accounting regulations and assist with tax-related filings (payroll taxes sales/use tax) as needed. Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes or internal controls and assist in implementing enhancements for efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field (required).
- Experience: 3 years of progressive accounting experience including direct involvement in payroll processing. Experience in the construction or agriculture industry is highly valued (project/job cost accounting experience is a plus) but not required.
- Technical Skills: Solid understanding of general accounting principles (GAAP). Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel for financial analysis and reporting. Ability to handle AP AR payroll and general ledger tasks independently.
- Soft Skills: High attention to detail and accuracy in work. Strong organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines. Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly report financial information and collaborate with non-financial team members.
