Job Description

Although specific responsibilities will dictate specific undertakings several core tasks are required for this position. A review of current job listings identified the following primary responsibilities per area of involvement.

Buying:

  • Assisting in managing the Open to Buy Budget for all locations.
  • Maintaining a calendar for markets and shows and researching new market opportunities.
  • Assisting the buyer with the selection of the right product mix per each location
  • Writing placing and tracking orders.
  • Assist in communicating with Vendors.
  • Schedule appointments with vendors before each show
  • Prepare pre-show documents.
  • Analyze sales reports from the previous year and work with Whitney and Erin on best sellers to move forward with and what items need to be replaced.
  • Maintain all sales documents during shows and verified invoices to reflect show specials and pricing discussed at vendor meetings.
  • Follow up with vendors after shows and communicate on delivery dates invoice dating and backorders.
  • Work with the lead buyer for custom items and get approved artwork from vendors.
  • Communicate with Whitney and Erin on delivery schedule invoice dating and backorders.
  • Visit local locations and work with retail managers on the front-of-house story for items to compare to the retail reports.
  • Work with Whitney with merchandising.
  • Help with deliveries and stocking on large shipments when necessary.
  • Work with the retail manager and marketing department on signage for social media and in stores for sales specials and general advertisement.
  • Running retail reports and meeting with Whitney and Erin to review opportunities involving pricing re-orders and sales.

Merchandising:

  • Visiting store locations and working with retail managers on merchandising
  • Assist in creating floor plans for upcoming seasons as well as new store locations.
  • Researching new ways to visual merchandise and display inventory
  • Working with Marketing departments on creating signage
  • Working with the Marketing department on creating social media photo shoots and promoting new items
  • Assist in creating and implementing visual stories during the buying season.

Special Events:

  • Working with locations on special events or promotions
  • Purchasing seasonal dcor for all locations and schedule dates for install

Requirements:

  • Available for special events and seasonal installs and merchandising.
  • 3-5 years of Retail experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Some travel is required throughout the year during the buying season.
