Job Summary
The Pueblo West Parks and Recreation Department is seeking an energetic and passionate Pre-Pre School Instructor to lead our innovative Kidz Korner program designed for children aged 3-5. This contracted position is ideal for someone with a background in early childhood education who is excited to prepare young children for preschool through engaging and educational activities. The instructor will facilitate classes that include arts and crafts counting story time and physical games both indoors and outdoors to support coordination and physical exercise.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
- Design and conduct daily educational activities based on the general curriculum provided by the Parks and Recreation Department.
- Engage children in activities that promote early learning skills necessary for preschool such as counting letter recognition and basic social skills.
- Organize and lead fun safe and educational arts and crafts projects.
- Conduct story time sessions that enhance listening comprehension and verbal skills.
- Supervise and facilitate indoor and outdoor physical games to promote coordination and exercise.
- Monitor the childrens progress and adapt activities to meet the developmental needs of each child.
Knowledge
- Understanding of early childhood development principles and educational best practices.
- Knowledge of safety protocols for young children especially in group and physical activity settings.
- Familiarity with creative teaching methods that captivate young minds.
Skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with children parents and Parks and Recreation staff.
- Ability to create engaging and age-appropriate educational content.
- Proficient in organizing and multitasking to manage a dynamic classroom environment.
Abilities
- Ability to work flexibly and adaptively in a varied and dynamic environment.
- Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors regardless of weather conditions.
- Capable of physical activities with young children including games sports and playground supervision.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications (Note: Any acceptable combination of education training and experience that provides the above knowledge abilities and skills may be substituted.)
Qualifications
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in early childhood education or a related field.
- Must be CPR and First Aid certified.
- Preferred: Degree or certification in Early Childhood Education.
- Must pass a background check.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
- This is a contracted position.
- Hours will depend on instructor availability and program participation.
Physical Demands
- Must be physically able to engage with children at their level including sitting on the floor standing walking bending and occasionally lifting up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to lead and participate in physical games and activities both indoors and outdoors.
