You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe Amherst Public School District is seeking a candidate for a Behaviorist Specialist (BCBA) for the Amherst Public Schools to cover a Leave of Absences until November 1st 2025.
Fort River is a K-6th grade school that includes two specialized programs for students with IEPs. The programs are our elementary therapeutic program and our inclusive program for students with high functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder or a similar profile.
The primary responsibilities will include consultation with personnel to address student needs conducting FBAs developing and supporting the implementation of behavior plans Team participation and IEP development consultation to staff staff training and participation in the school based Behavioral Health Team and ASD/Behavioral districtwide group.
The Behavior Specialist (BCBA) will function as a support to the special education specialized programs and may also have a consultation caseload for students not in specialized programs. The BCBA will serve as a consultant for teams and administrators seeking assistance in developing strategies and interventions to support progress of identified students. The BCBA will work collaboratively with teachers to provide support training and consultation. The BCBA will provide consistent classroom observation and feedback sessions to support individual teacher professional improvement needs by modeling and pre-/post-reflection. The BCBA will support teachers in the implementation of behavioral support plans support student inclusion in the general education setting collection and analysis of assessment data and development of intervention strategies.
The BCBA will communicate and collaborate with families to assist with the students generalization of skills.
Qualifications:
BCBA license preferred or Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Special Education Teachers License at the appropriate level if BCBA licensure is not completed
Expertise with assessment to include FBAs
Expertise in development and implementation of behavior plans
Expertise in Applied Behavioral Analysis
Expertise in development and implementation of data collection system
Knowledge and understanding of social/emotional and mental health issues
Familiarity with trauma informed practices
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships with students staff and families
Highly effective oral and written communication skills
Highly effective time management skills
Strong case management skills
