Position Summary:
Reporting to the Associate Director Alumni Regional Networks the responsibilities of the Assistant Director Alumni Regional Networks include overseeing outreach and alumni involvement in regional programs; developing annual and long-term strategic and alumni program planning in collaboration with a variety of campus colleagues; and managing and cultivating alumni volunteers. The Assistant Director Alumni Regional Networks will work closely with colleagues across Development and Alumni Relations to ensure quality programming is offered in a wide range of locations both inside and outside of Houston.
The ideal candidateis a self-starter with a positive attitude and professional demeanor who is able to cultivate meaningful relationships while simultaneously coordinating multiple projects.
Workplace Requirements:
This position is offered as a hybrid role combining both in-office and remote work to provide flexibility and support Rice policy 440 work arrangements may be subject to change.
Must possess(or have the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire) and maintain a valid Texas drivers license with no more than three moving violations and/or at fault accidents within the past 36 months and no convictions or deferred dispositions for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) or Driving Under the Influence (DUI) within the past five years.
*Exempt (salaried) positions underFLSA are not eligible for overtime.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree
- 1 years ofrelated professional experience including experience in one or more of these areas: managing volunteers large-scale event management relationship cultivation program development or other relatedexperience
Skills:
- Ability to learn new strategies
- Ability to cultivate and manage alumni volunteers
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Data analysis skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately and tactfully
- Detail oriented with a strong focus on accuracy
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet expected deadlines and schedules
- High level of maturity and emotional intelligence with capability of exercising good judgment
- Ability to quicklyunderstand and remember details about alumni/donors and projects to which they are assigned
Preferences:
- 2 years of professional experiencein the following:
- volunteer and event management
- using and working with databaseinformation systems
- working in alumni relations development or volunteer management in a college or university setting
- Experience in nonprofit or higher education environment
- Experience using Blackbaud CRM or similar alumni/donor database system
Essential Functions:
- Develops contacts and maintains relationships with alumni faculty students staff and vendors
- Recruits faculty and volunteers to facilitate their participation in alumni programs and events
- Develops and implements a range of alumni events programs and services
- Coordinates operational and logistical planning of alumni events activities outreach efforts and event registration
- Maintains calendars on events including arranging meetings travel and document preparation
- Produces reports and analyzes the performance of alumni programs and services
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Additional Functions:
- Thisposition requires approximately 30% travel and the ability to work nights and weekends as needed
- In addition to having frequent contact with various offices on campus (including the Presidents and Provosts Offices) the incumbent has extensive contact with Rice alumni and frequent contact with internal and external vendors
