Salary: Grade D 24404 - 25183 pro rata

Hours of work: Part time 08:30 15:00 Monday to Friday. 31 hours per week 39 weeks per year.

We have the opportunity for a Teaching Assistant to join our team at River Mead School in Melksham. Whether you are an experienced Teaching Assistant looking for a new challenge or someone early in their career looking for the next step this post will be rewarding and fulfilling. If you are passionate about providing Inspirational Learning for Allchildren and ready to support all of our learners to flourish we would love to hear from you.

River Mead School is a single entry primary and nursery school with an average number of children on roll of 250. 37 of these children are educated within the Complex Needs Resource Base and 34 are in the nursery. The proportion of children living with disadvantage and eligible for pupil premium funding is well above the national average as is the proportion of pupils who have special educational needs and/or disabilities. The school is at the heart of its community and takes the pastoral care of its children and families as seriously as it does their educational needs.

We pride ourselves on our comprehensive induction process and delivering ongoing professional development to all of our staff. We will give full training to the right person as we believe strongly that its much more about attitude and approach than it is about experience. As a result we welcome applications from people who are passionate about working with children no matter what their background is.

The role will involve:

Ideally you will have a Level 2 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning and be trained in First Aid or willing to undertake training.

As well as your core Teaching Assistant responsibilities you will act as a Midday Supervisory Assistant (MDSA) supporting children in the hall to have a calm and enjoyable lunchtime or be based on the playground supporting children with engaging in the varied lunchtime activities.

This role will involve contact with children and the post holder will be engaged in regulated activity relevant to children and will be subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check before appointment is confirmed. We will only submit a DBS application to the relevant disclosure service when a position is accepted.
