Job Description
Hoplite Solutions is seeking a Linux Systems Administrator who will install configure and maintain the Linux operating systems. Analyze and resolve problems associated with the operating systems servers hardware applications and software. Monitor systems performance and ensures compliance with security standards.
Basic Qualifications:
Experience patching and updating Linux server operating systems and configuring Linux server network integration.
Experience monitoring network activity and network traffic redirection. Familiarity with proxy implementations (e.g. iptables modproxy digital certificates etc.).
Mandatory Qualifications:
An active TS/SCI with Poly clearance
University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum of 7 years of related work experience.
Experience scripting or programming with Bash Shell 3 years.
Demonstrated experience with Python 1 year
Demonstrated understanding of Linux operating systems (e.g. Centos Ubuntu Fedora Scientific Linux Debian etc.) 3 years
Experience in the maintenance of various layers of network infrastructure.
Experience with infrastructure troubleshooting to include direct interaction with vendors and service providers.
Experience with network and server hardware procurement and detailed record keeping supporting mission networks.
Experience with Linux systems administration including knowledge of and experience with:
o SELinux troubleshooting and policy configuration/creation;
o Custom Linux kernel configuration and maintenance;
o Syslog; iptables; grsec experience preferred;
o Multiple Linux distributions (Debian-based and Redhat-based.)
Server system administration and hardening proficiencysuch as experience with Apache Nginx; and Bind.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of stand-alone automated configuration management systems (e.g. Chef Solo Ansible Kickstart).
Knowledge of TCP/IP networking ability to troubleshoot non-standard network infrastructure to include VPN and NAT.
Knowledge of IT defensive best practices.
Experience with inter-discipline task management with occasional short turn-around tasks.
Strong analytic and critical thinking skills including an ability to think strategically.
Ability to effectively express complex ideas and insights verbally and in writing to a variety of audiences.
Ability to remain open-minded and change opinions on the basis of new information and requirements.
Team oriented must be able to create and adhere to schedules.
Must have desire and ability to learn new things.
Must be able to communicate and coordinate across departments and levels of seniority.
Ability to research the latest technological developments in relevant operating systems to identify impact and anticipate changes in the organizations operating environment.
