Department: Global Operations Linux Team
Location: Hybrid / Onsite (Bucharest as required)

Team Overview

The Linux Team consists of a group of experienced professionals distributed across multiple geographies. The team is responsible for managing complex customer environments with a strong focus on excellence in design delivery and operations. The team culture emphasises collaboration high standards and delivering outstanding service to customers.


Role Purpose

The Linux Technical Consultant will be responsible for delivering managed services for a major client. This includes contributing to the design and implementation of Linux-based solutions systems administration operational support and project delivery. The role requires creating and maintaining high-quality documentation applying industry best practices and actively contributing to team knowledge sharing and process improvement initiatives.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide L3 support for business-as-usual activities including incident resolution service requests and change management while ensuring SLAs are consistently met.

  • Deploy configure and manage Linux systems following industry standards and best practices.

  • Deploy configure and manage Kubernetes environments.

  • Work with Ansible frameworks for automation and configuration management.

  • Follow ITIL and Agile service management processes (e.g. Incident and Change Management).

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance automation strategies and deployment processes.

  • Contribute to architectural discussions and solution design when required.

  • Produce and maintain clear structured documentation.

  • Apply industry standards and best practices across operational tasks.

  • Support both internal and external projects as needed.

  • Participate in service acceptance activities to ensure solutions are fully supportable.

  • Accurately record working time for appropriate chargeback and reporting purposes.

  • Attend on-site at customer locations (Bucharest) on a regular basis or as required.


Required Skills and Experience

System Administration:

  • Expertise in Linux distributions including RHEL SUSE Ubuntu and Debian.

Configuration Management & Automation:

  • Experience with Red Hat Satellite Server or Uyuni.

  • Proficiency in scripting (Python Java Shell).

  • Strong knowledge of Ansible and GitLab.

Containers & Middleware:

  • Experience with Docker.

  • Familiarity with Apache / Nginx web servers.

Additional Skills (Nice to Have):

  • Exposure to databases such as Oracle and MySQL.

  • Experience with Kubernetes.

  • Understanding of ITIL and Agile service management fundamentals.

  • Knowledge of ITSM tools (e.g. ServiceNow).

  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multilingual geographically dispersed teams.

  • Prior experience in a managed services environment is beneficial.


Qualifications and Certifications

  • Graduate degree in a relevant field (e.g. Engineering Computer Science) or equivalent practical experience.

  • RHEL Certified Administrator or at least 6 years of hands-on experience as a Linux System Administrator.
