Job Description

Job Summary

Senior Landman position requiring minimal supervision a strong proactive approach and utmost degree of independence professionalism and dependability with advanced supervisory leadership negotiating communication organizational and attention to detail skills and a comprehensive understanding of land legal and oil & gas industry principles processes and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for conducting all land work to include obtaining and evaluating land data (i.e. records titles abstracts etc.) on the availability of land and/or leases for acquisition development and/or divestiture.

  • Secures the examinations of titles resolves defects and settles damage claims.

  • May be responsible for making recommendations on dry hole contributions farm-ins farm-outs and other exploration activities as well as maintaining producing leases and co-owner relationships.

  • Ability to represent the company at land/lease sales.

  • Under minimal supervision plans and conducts assignments.

  • May have responsibility for whole projects or complex assignments involving problem diagnosis and/or development of innovative solutions.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Has broad exposure to and strong understanding of the most frequently used oil and gas agreements. May have developed a high degree of expertise in certain areas.

  • Has proven ability to handle routine buying areas efficiently. Has a good understanding of lease forms and provisions and can apply the correct type of form to the situation. Has good knowledge of Federal and State regulations. Able to comfortably work with sophisticated lease forms and complex lease provisions.

  • Analytical/Problem Solving Skills: Proactively explores alternatives. Anticipates realistic potential problems. Proposes sound conclusions.

  • Aware of the informational and professional needs of industry counterparts and actively responds to those needs. Keeps abreast of industry activity and maintains critical industry contacts in area of responsibility. Viewed as a team player by organizational peers and as an important link to industry. Active member of professional associations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Petroleum Land Management Energy Management Business Administration Law or a related discipline.

  • Minimum of eight (8) years of experience as a Landman.

  • An acceptable pre-employment background and drug test.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experienced in the Oklahoma Regulatory Environment.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Requires prolonged sitting some bending and stooping.

  • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.

  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
