Why Your Role Matters:
The Financial Services team is accountable for providing end-to-end finance services to UNSW Canberra. Our Finance Analyst supports the preparation and delivery of financial management activities and undertakes analysis of Faculty budgets and accounts and translate data into advice and guidance to enable reporting and tracking of revenues expenditures and other key financial indicators.
Accountabilities:
Develop financial models and spreadsheets to provide detailed analysis and meaningful commentary regarding key issue highlighted by monthly management reports.
Provide finance support to academics maintain an in-depth understanding of research funding including compliance requirements spending timeframes and allowable expenditure to proactively identify mitigate and manage compliance risks.
Assist in the preparation of reports for presentations as well as monthly and quarterly financial management packs.
Assist in the investigation of financial data to ensure issues risk and/or compliance breaches are identified.
Support the preparation and delivery of financial management activities including month end planning forecasting reporting and analysis activities.
Undertake financial modelling and scenario analysis to support decision making.
Investigate variances to budget and forecasts to ensure all issues risks and/or compliance breaches are identified and managed in a timely manner
Who You Are (skills and experience):
Relevant tertiary qualification with and completion of (or towards completing) a CA or CPA qualification (or equivalent) and relevant professional sector experience.
Demonstrated experience in management reporting budgeting and forecasting in a large organisation or a similar role within a group or divisional financial planning and analysis team or management reporting team.
Demonstrated experience in a research accounting environment.
Sound knowledge of computer applications budgeting forecasting and reporting tools and the delivery of online reports including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and its application in financial modelling and analysis as well as computer applications enterprise systems and the delivery of reports and presentations.
Demonstrated experience in focusing on customer/client needs in a client focussed workplace with strong communication interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
