Polymerics Instructor/Trainer

Part-Time Contract 2 to 3 full-day classes per week

Beltsville MD

@Orchard has been retained by a leading Civil Engineering firm with a contract supporting NASA and other Aerospace customers to find an experienced Polymerics Instructor/Trainer. In this position you will play a key role in delivering NASA standard training to established workmanship standards. The in-person training session will be delivered in person and on-site in the Beltsville MD facility. The schedules can vary anywhere between 2-3 classes per week and typically last a full day. This is a perfect opportunity for someone seeking to leverage their certification and experience while having the flexibility of a part-time schedule.

What Youll Do:

  • Facilitate and deliver training courses for internal teams (and potentially external suppliers/subcontractors) on NASA workmanship standards specifically focusing on polymeric applications.
  • Utilize lectures demonstrations and practical exercises to develop the required knowledge and skills for fabrication and inspection of polymeric applications.
  • Conduct initial training and retraining programs (typically 16-32 hours per week).
  • Ensure all training is conducted in adherence to NASA standards.
  • May also be responsible for all hand tools and soldering iron certification calibration and inspection.
  • Stay current with revisions and changes to NASA standards and industry best practices related to polymeric applications.
  • Ensure all training and practices align with the latest NASA requirements.

What Youll Bring:

Certifications & Licenses:

  • Must hold NASA Standard Level B Instructor certification for Cable Crimp and Harness.
  • Must be a Certified IPC Trainer in Soldering.
  • NASA Standard Polymeric Application Level A Instructor certification is preferred.

Experience & Knowledge:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a polymeric level B instructor.
  • Extensive experience in NASA programs and/or related aerospace industry experience.
  • Familiarity with related NASA workmanship standards such as NASA-STD-8739.1 NASA-STD-8739.3 and NASA-STD-8739.7
  • Understanding of common polymeric materials used in electronic assemblies.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective interaction with diverse groups of trainees.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.

Compensation

This is a part-time hourly-paid contract. The rate will be determined based on the level of experience and certification held by the individual offered but it is expected to have an hourly rate range of between $70-85 per hour while delivering the training class.
