The Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa is ideally located in the heart of Edinburghs financial and tourist area and is one of Scotlands leading 5 star hotels. As the largest 5 star hotel in the city with 269 bedrooms we also have the biggest banqueting and meeting facilities with a capacity of up to 500 and the award winning One Square Restaurant. Additionally the hotel operates the award winning One Spa one of Europes premier advanced city spas.
The successful candidate for this position will have a strong food & beverage background within the Hotel industry an ability to work unsupervised and experience/knowledge of banqueting would be required.
A flexible customer-focused approach is essential with excellent organisation and leadership skills.
Essential Functions
- Serving and hosting the Sheraton Club members whilst they enjoy the Club Lounge.
- Assist in directing and supervising the daily running of the In Room Dining and Club Lounge areas maintaining the Sheraton Grands standards of service guest satisfaction and efficiency.
- Ensure your outlets are adequately equipped with operating equipment guest supplies and restaurant accessories in line with business demands.
- When delegated by your manager you are responsible to schedule and assign staff according to forecast special activities events holidays and operation requirements.
- To conduct regular outlet meetings daily pre-shift briefings in each of the outlets in order to review and improve service procedures and to communicate special arrangements.
- To maintain the Food & Beverage log to record comments complaints sales information revenue and any unusual occurrences. This should be updated on a daily business.
- To ensure that all team members within your outlets are well presented and correctly groomed according to the Sheraton Grand standards.
- Responsible for the outlets cash handling float and pay-in procedures ensuring all members of your team are trained on the standard procedures and in turn they are adhered to at all times.
- Becoming the point of contact for all members developing recognition and building relationships.
- Proactively engaging with current and perspective Sheraton Club members.
- Take ownership of enrolling and managing memberships.
- Attracting & recruiting new members increasing membership to drive incremental revenue.
- Conducting site inspection and responding to enquiries from perspective Sheraton Club members.
- Help to develop and lead an empowered environment for the servers by providing support knowledge advice and leadership.
- When fully competent to work with the senior team to provide effective on job training and coaching of new staff to help develop a highly skilled and motivated team.
- To be actively involved in planning promotions working closely with senior F&B Team.
- Liaise and communicate effectively with all departments to ensure seamless transfer of information takes place.
Requirements:
We are looking for a confident individual who iscapable to work on theirown initiative as well as part of a teamand has a strong desire to improve on their skills and knowledge as well as:
- Food & Beverage service experience required
- Previous experience in a client facing role within a luxury five star environment a distinct advantage
- Capability of prioritising their workload to meet deadlines focused on solving customer issues
- Ability to handle stress and cope with the pressures of the job as and when they occur
- Ability to deal with and adapt to unexpected situations: complaints change
- Good listening skills for use with internal and external customers alike
- Flexible approach towards hours
- To project a pleasant and positive professional image to all contacts at all times.
- Manage cultural needs and expectations of guests.
- Allocate tasks to the team to ensure all duties carried out thoroughly and on time.
- Coaching and training of the team and maintaining positive teamwork at all times.
