Job Description

The State of Montana has a decentralized human resources (HR) system. Each agency is responsible for its own recruitment and selection. Working Conditions

The Technical Support Specialist works in an ordinary office position is expected to work overtime hours during the legislative session and when support needs run outside normal business hours. The position involves physical demands associated with lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

An associate degree in a computer science or related field plus (3) years of relevant work experience

An equivalent amount of education and experience.

Job Summary - this is a non-partisan position

Provide day-to-day operations support for the audio video (AV) operations of the Legislative includes customer service room setup video editing equipment management and operations coordination with support vendors and resource planning.

Duties and Responsibilities

Provide in person day-to-day operations support for the audio video (AV) operations of the Legislative Branch.

Serve as the designee for set up and management of AV equipment for committee meetings and floor sessions. This includes laptops and equipment in the room such as sound system monitors projectors and microphones.

Trouble-shoot AV equipment configuration and usage technical problems accurately and pass them to support vendors or in-house technical with vendors and in-house staff to fix technical problems.

Work with IT to test new and upgraded AV equipment to ensure it is working as small teams of testers of AV equipment when major enhancements are test findings to vendors or in-house with technicians to fix defects found in testing.

Work with technical staff to deliver easy public access of recent audio and video.

Edit video as directed (generally includes topping and tailing meeting videos).

Supports interim and session activities in the areas of legislator orientation and staff training.

Assists service desk functions by providing telephone and email support. Escalates tickets to others as needed. Provides assistance to the service desk in the areas of hardware network audio/video software and inventory database support.
