High Point University is currently seeking a full-time Marketing and Communications Manager. The Marketing and Communications Manager is a proactive solution-oriented professional who takes initiative in advancing the David R. Hayworth School of Arts and Designs (SOAD) strategic objectives. This role requires someone who actively seeks opportunities asks strategic questions and builds strong relationships both within SOAD and across the University including partnerships with Communications Admissions and other key departments. The position focuses on increasing enrollment and retention enhancing national recognition and creating compelling marketing strategies across multiple specialized areas.
The successful candidate will split their time strategically across three primary areas each requiring distinct expertise and relationship-building skills to maximize impact and collaboration.
Time Allocation: 50% Sechrest Art Gallery 40% Theater & Dance Department 10% split between Visual Arts and Music departments.
Essential Responsibilities
Sechrest Art Gallery Responsibilities (50% of time)
- Work with Gallery Director to coordinate a yearly calendar of exhibitions and serve as a point of contact for exhibiting artists
- Create marketing materials for gallery exhibitions and events
- Manage gallery social media presence and digital marketing
- Coordinate gallery reception planning and promotion
- Develop and maintain gallery visitor databases
- Monitor Sechrest Gallery during designated hours greeting visitors and providing exhibition information
Theater & Dance Department Responsibilities (40% of time)
Communication and Marketing Coordination to Support Recruitment
- Monitor and manage communications with current and prospective students for Theater & Dance Department
- Interpret social media analytics and assess communication effectiveness
- Generate monthly reports on prospective student numbers recruitment metrics and strategy effectiveness
- Send regular correspondence to prospective students throughout recruitment cycle or directs it to the appropriate individual
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with Admissions office and representatives
Department Integration & Marketing Support
- Attend monthly Theater & Dance department meetings to stay integrated with departmental goals
- Build strong collaborative relationships with the Communications Department
- Maintain visible presence within the department for students and faculty
- Provide marketing and logistical support for department productions and events
- Create department-specific marketing materials and social media content
- Support faculty initiatives and special departmental projects as needed
Other Support (10% of time)
- Provide marketing and communications support as requested
- Create promotional materials for department events and programs
- Support special projects and initiatives
Marketing & Brand Management
- Design and produce publicity materials including posters programs flyers postcards brochures and digital graphics
- Develop and maintain consistent brand messaging across all communications
- Create marketing collateral for events programs and special initiatives
- Support departmental marketing needs and special projects
Digital Media & Content Creation
- Manage and grow social media presence across multiple platforms and departments
- Supervise social media student workers and coordinate content calendars
- Produce and organize digital assets including photography videography and live streaming
- Coordinate production of headshots rehearsal footage and promotional videos
- Maintain organized digital asset library
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelors degree in Art Graphic Design Visual Communication Marketing or related field
- Demonstrated experience in marketing communications and brand management
Technical Skills
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop Illustrator InDesign Premiere Pro)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong social media platform knowledge and marketing expertise
- Experience with digital photography and videography
- Familiarity with content management systems and email marketing platforms

Working Conditions
This position requires occasional evening and weekend work for events and gallery monitoring. The role involves both office-based work and on-location photography/videography as needed.
