JOB TITLE:Coordinator Multilingual Programs Elementary
REPORTS TO: Director Multilingual Programs

PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Elementary Multilingual Coordinator is responsible for providing instructional leadership in the development and implementation of quality multilingual programs for English Language Learners (ELLs) in grades K-5

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- Masters Degree from an accredited college or university
Preferred:
- Five years experience as a successful Bilingual or ESL classroom teacher
- Valid Texas teacher certification with Bilingual and ESL endorsement by the State Board
- At least two years experience serving on an LPAC committee
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
- Understanding of curriculum assessment and instruction.
- Ability to evaluate instructional programs.
- Ability to interpret policy procedures and data.
- Excellent organization communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to supervise plan and present staff development.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Instructional Program Coordination.
- Assist teachers of ELLs and monitored students with the implementation of the SISD curriculum in the core content areas.
- Provide campus support through professional development for teachers of ELLs or monitored students.
- Plan and provide professional staff development activities for administrators and teachers to meet assessment compliance and instructional needs for ELLs including state federal and local programs.
- Assist district and campus administrators with the data interpretation and compliance requirements.
- Assist with protecting data integrity as a liaison between campuses and student accounting for PEIMS purposes.
- Assist campuses with the district process for reviewing and auditing LPAC documents.
- Provide support to campuses to meet Campus Improvement Plan goals.
- Assist with ELL summer school programs.
- Assist in screening interviewing and evaluating applicants as requested by Human Resources department and building principals.
- Participate as a member of curriculum development teams for Bilingual/ESL curriculum writing.
- Support communication among teachers campus administrators and the Office of Bilingual/ESL/Academic Services.
- Monitor professional research and disseminate ideas and pertinent information as appropriate.
- Maintain professional conduct at all times.
- Build relationships with teachers and administrators.
- Work with diverse populations.
- Positively share district vision with community members.
- Other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands: physical mobility standing prolonged sitting some lifting carrying pushing and/or pulling reaching/repetitive hand motions and the ability to work with frequent interruptions. May be required to lift or position students with physical disabilities; control behavior through physical restraint; and assist non-ambulatory students. Mental demands: Ability to maintain emotional control under stress; ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of situations; ability to interpret a variety of data ability to be effective in both oral and written communication. Travel within the district as required.
