Job Description

Salary Information

Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade.

**A starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies and the Montgomery Personnel Board Rules & Regulations**

Nature of Work

This position is an entry-level position that performssemi-skilled work in support of the Citys parking operations including the collectionof parking fees and the installationmaintenance and repair of mechanical and electronic parking meters. Thisposition differs from upper-level parking management positions as it gradually undertakes more complex and skilledduties through on-the-job training. Work responsibilities include butare not limited to manually collectingand transporting parking meter fees assisting with the processing of collectedfunds documenting collected fees and carrying out maintenance repair andinstallation of parking meters. General supervision is provided by the ParkingManagement Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or G.E.D. and sixmonths of experience in the repair and/or maintenance of mechanical or digitaldevices and equipment.

NOTE: Qualifying education training and experiencethat provide the requisite knowledge skills and abilities to perform the jobwill be considered.

Special Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid driverslicense and an insurable driving record as needed to operate city vehicle.

WORKING CONDITIONS:Work is performed in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to theelements to include extreme heat cold rain and lightning. Work is performed in uncontrolled workenvironments including but not limited to work zones and in close proximity toheavy traffic.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:Physical ability to walk bend stoop crouch squat and kneel forextended periods of time as needed for the collection of meter fees and themaintenance and installation of to walk on average five miles weekly as needed to perform thefunctions of the abilityto lift carry push and/or pull coins and equipment weighing up to 70lbs.

Kind of Examination

The current vacancy is with theCity of Montgomery Parking Management Department.Applicants will be screened and qualified based on the education and experience shown on the application and supplemental questionnaire. For this reason applicants are urged to fill in the application form andsupplemental questionnaire completely providing detailed information concerning the kinds of jobs they have held the dates they held them where and exactly what their duties were. If more than five qualified applications are received the supplemental questionnaire will be used to rank applicants on the register. Tied scores will not be broken. If there are five or less qualified applicants they will be considered equally qualified and placed on the register in alphabetical order.
