Job Summary:

The Arizona Department of Corrections Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is looking for a Time Computation Technician Senior with excellent professionalism and communication skills responsible for proficiency in the sentence calculation methodologies and processes. This position also works under the direct supervision of unit supervisors and managers and will play a crucial role researching current and historical laws on sentencing structures and applications and/or court orders to ensure accurate and timely releases of inmates.

Job Duties:

- Performs complex audits of sentence calculations for a variety of releases using correct methodologies and processes
- Provides release dates to the institutions and inmate
- Provides day-to-day application of how to interpret legal documents to ensure accurate sentencing structure and all applicable statutes are cited in the court documents
- Reviews computer systems relating to release criteria to ensure correct sentence structure for accurate and precise release dates
- Provides daily application of knowledge of the requirements for the forfeiture restoration and rescission process
- Reviews correspondence from families law enforcement officials institutions offenders legal representatives and other jurisdictions regarding the information on time computations
- May be required to assist in the training of new staff within the unit other ADCRR staff or outside agencies
- Attends staff meeting
- Drives on State business
- Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment

Knowledge Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:
- Arizona Revised Statutes (ARS) State and Federal Laws ADCRR department policies and procedures rules and regulations and time computation procedures pertaining to inmate release
- Court decisions and ADCRR policies relating to sentence calculations
- Methods of releases and time computations and techniques
- Current and historical law pertaining to sentence structures and court decisions to ensure accurate and timely releases from ADCRR custody/control
- Microsoft Office Google Suite and basic computer program operations
- Various types of inmate releases
- Time computation procedures
- Mathematics
- Business English including proper grammar spelling and punctuation


Skill in:
- Written verbal and listening communication
- Mathematical computations
- Interpretation and analysis of legal documents and legal terminology
- Building and maintaining effective interpersonal relationships
- Attention to detail
- Personal computers and related peripheral equipment and various software programs
- Critical thinking problem-solving and decision-making


Ability to:
- Understand explain and apply State and Federal laws
- Research and interpret ARS court orders and policies
- Deconstruct court orders to determine appropriate sentencing structures
- Work on multiple tasks and assignments simultaneously while providing a high level of customer service
- Train staff
- Determine the correct credits available for forfeiture restoration and rescission to determine the correct release dates

Selective Preference(s):

- Two (2) years of experience as an intermediate-level technician or equivalent

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation.

Candidates will be required to complete an eight (8) week paid training program and must attain a minimum score of 85% on the final examination.


In an effort to maintain a safe environment all employees are required to take a Tuberculosis (TB) test during their New Employee Orientation and every year thereafter.

If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job then the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current valid class-appropriate drivers license complete all required training and successfully pass all necessary drivers license record checks. The license must be current unexpired and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to drivers license record checks must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R.11).

All newly hired State employees are subject to and must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).
