Psychologist
(Commencing August 25 2025)
LOCATION : Mary Street Education Centre Pembroke
HOURS PER WEEK :35 hours per week 10.5 months/year
SUMMARY: The Renfrew County District School Board is seeking a qualified Psychologist to join its team. Reporting to the Superintendent of Special Services the successful candidate will be responsible for the provision of a wide variety of psychological services in schools in a timely and responsive manner.

Skills Qualifications and Experience:
- Doctorate Degree in Psychology
- Registration with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario
- 3-5 years related experience in a school board setting preferred although experience in childrens mental health may be considered;
- Experience in conducting risk assessments would be an asset;
- Experience in a multi-disciplinary team model (i.e. Psychologists Social Workers Teachers Principals Attendance Counsellors Speech and Language Pathologists)
- The nature of this position will require the successful candidate to service large geographical areas; mileage reimbursement at the Board approved rate.
- Experience with diagnostic formulation and communication of psychological diagnoses according to accepted diagnostic criteria
- Knowledge of evidenced-based practices in school psychology
Duties:
- Conduct psychological and psychoeducational assessments of students with academic learning social emotional and/or behavioural difficulties in collaboration with the District psychometrist and other relevant staff to support educational planning and services.
- Provide consultation to teachers administrators resource staff and parents/guardians regarding students with learning personal adjustment or developmental concerns for the purpose of program planning.
- Maintain clear concise and accurate clinical file documentation protecting privacy and confidentiality as per the standards and regulations established by regulatory college and adhering to the Districts policies and procedures
- In-depth knowledge of legislation codes and regulations as they pertain to delivery of psychological services diagnosis and individual education plans privacy and confidentiality
- Prepare and provide professional development sessions to promote capacity building for school and system staff
- Practice within a strengths-based anti-oppressive framework inclusive of cross-cultural considerations that embraces the diversity of students.
- Assume clinical supervision responsibilities as required
- Communicate and liaise with relevant professionals including private practitioners and agencies to ensure a coordinated effort in supporting the needs of students.
- Respond to school crises including attending threat assessments or support with tragic events as requested
- Other duties as assigned
The vacation periods for this position are over Christmas Break March Break and approximately 6 weeks during the months of July and August.
