PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Under the supervision of the Principal improves student achievement by providing programmatic curriculum instruction assessment and professional learning aligned to campus goals and the district academic program. Lead department staff with instructional coaching model teaching and designing of targeted intervention group instruction based on data analysis. Provides students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual emotional physical and social growth.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education/Certification:
- Masters degree from an accredited university in educational administrations content area or curriculum and instruction preferred.
- Valid Texas teaching certification
- TTESS Certification required
- Principal Certification (Preferred)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Previous experience in educational leadership preferably in a middle school setting.
- Strong understanding of curriculum development instructional strategies and assessment practices.
- Excellent communication interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to analyze data and make data-driven decisions to improve student outcomes.
- Skill in presenting information to training and supporting a variety of stakeholders in small and large group settings
- Skill in organizing/interpreting/analyzing data and applying concepts to resolve problems and develop solutions
- Ability to organize and manage multiple complex tasks simultaneously and independently to meet deadlines
Minimum Experience:
- Five years of teaching and/or administrator experience.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Curriculum Development and Implementation:
- Work collaboratively with district curriculum specialists and the Director of Secondary Curriculum & Instruction to align school curriculum with district standards and initiatives.
- Provide leadership to teachers in classroom management discipline curriculum and instructional techniques to prepare students for high school.
- Act as chairperson of the LPAC committee as assigned by the principal.
- Provide instructional resources and materials to support teaching staff in maximizing College and Career Readiness instructional goals.
- Maintain grade records and establish processes for tracking failure reports.
- Participate in a site-based decision-making process.
- Assist the principal in the management of administrative functions which may include safety support services registration and placement of students in scheduling advance courses.
- Participate in regular meetings and professional development sessions with district curriculum personnel to stay informed about updates and changes to curriculum expectations and resources.
- Oversee the campus implementation of curriculum ensuring differentiation and accommodations for diverse student needs.
- Participate in and lead PLC conversations that produce high-leverage actionable feedback to improve teacher performance and student outcomes.
- Provide guidance mentorship and professional development opportunities to teachers to enhance their instructional practices.
- Conduct regular classroom observations and serve as an appraiser in the teacher evaluation system (TTESS) to provide constructive feedback to support teacher growth.
Student Academic Support:
- Develop and implement strategies to support students academically including intervention programs and enrichment opportunities.
- Analyze student performance data to identify trends and areas for improvement and implement targeted interventions accordingly.
- Develop and implement targeted support initiatives for at-risk students including those facing academic socio-economic or behavioral challenges.
- Collaborate with teachers counselors and support staff to identify at-risk students and develop individualized intervention plans to address their needs.
Assessment and Data Analysis:
- Oversee and support the Instructional Coachs responsibilities as Campus Testing Coordinator (CTC).
- Ensure compliance with testing protocols including test security and administration procedures in accordance with district and state guidelines.
Oversight of Campus Instructional Coach:
- Provide guidance and support to campus instructional coaches to ensure alignment with school and district instructional goals.
- Collaborate with instructional coaches to develop and implement professional development plans that target areas of instructional improvement.
- Conduct regular meetings with instructional coaches to review coaching strategies share best practices and provide feedback on coaching effectiveness.
- Monitor the impact of instructional coaching on teacher practice and student achievement adjusting coaching strategies as needed to maximize effectiveness.
- Evaluate the performance of instructional coaches based on established goals and expectations providing ongoing feedback and support for professional growth.
- Coordinate opportunities for instructional coaches to engage in ongoing professional development and networking with colleagues to stay current on research-based instructional practices.
- Collaborate with district leadership and other academic deans to ensure consistency and coherence in instructional coaching practices across the district.
Other Duties
- Assist the principal in the overall administration of the school and serve as principal in the absence of the regular principal.
- Create the master schedules to ensure an increase in student performance outcomes.
- Assist the principal in providing a positive school climate conducive to teaching and learning.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
- Collaborate with other district departments and divisions to achieve the goals and objectives of the districts instructional plan which incorporates the goals of the Board of Trustees

Maintain a working knowledge of current federal state and local requirements; Work with frequent interruptions maintain emotional control under stress; Comfort in a high pressure fast-paced environment with multiple overlapping deadlines. Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); ability to interpret policy procedures and data; coordinate district functions; maintain emotional control under stress.
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Frequent district and some statewide travel in personal vehicle; occasional overnight travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours; repetitive hand motions prolonged use of computer; ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
School district employees may be required to work from home and use their personal electronic devices.
This position is supported with grant funds. The position must adhere to the grant program funding sources requirements. It is important to understand that if the grant program fund(s) end the position could end as well.
