3 months contract with a Local Authority
Job Summary:
An experienced and qualified Social Worker is required to join the Family Support and Safeguarding Service on a temporary basis for a 12-week assignment.
The role will involve delivering statutory social care functions undertaking assessments and safeguarding children and young people in need or at risk.
Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team the successful candidate will support families to make sustainable change through strength-based and relationship-focused practice.
Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
Undertake Child and Family Assessments in accordance with statutory responsibilities.
Develop and implement outcome-focused plans in partnership with children families and multi-agency professionals.
Manage a caseload of children in need those on child protection plans and those within public law proceedings.
Contribute to timely and effective safeguarding interventions including strategy discussions case conferences and core groups.
Maintain accurate up-to-date records and ensure all casework complies with legal frameworks and policy requirements.
Provide written reports for court proceedings and participate in relevant hearings as required.
Participate in team meetings reflective supervision and contribute to service planning and improvement.
Engage in regular online or in-person meetings with children and families offering support and challenge to promote positive change.
Skills/Experience:
Proven experience within child protection safeguarding or family support services.
Strong understanding of relevant legislation including the Children Act 1989 Working Together to Safeguard Children and related statutory guidance.
Excellent assessment analytical and report writing skills.
Experience of working collaboratively with families and partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes.
Ability to manage competing priorities and maintain high standards of practice under pressure.
Competence in digital case management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
Additional Information:
Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration.
Enhanced DBS and right to work in the UK required.
Proven experience within child protection, safeguarding, or family support services. Strong understanding of relevant legislation including the Children Act 1989, Working Together to Safeguard Children, and related statutory guidance. Excellent assessment, analytical, and report writing skills. Experience of working collaboratively with families and partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes. Ability to manage competing priorities and maintain high standards of practice under pressure. Competence in digital case management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
Education
Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration.
