JOB SUMMARY
The Pre K-K School Climate Senior Specialist supports multiple schools by training coaching and evaluating the implementation of a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework to create a positive school climate. Provides support to school-based and central office staff by developing selecting and modifying coaching plans professional development and training materials to meet the needs of individual schools.

Additional Work Days/Hours
Based on the assignment the following additional work days and/or hours may be required as needed:

  • Ability to work flexible schedules
  • Outside of normal business hours


ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides training and/or professional development related to MTSS framework at the county school and individual level.
  • Provides technical support for school teams around data-based collection tools.
  • Coaches multiple schools in best practices on data-based decision making to create plans utilizing tiered interventions and strategies.
  • Evaluates implementation fidelity of MTSS framework to include Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Restorative Practices (RP) and Collaborative Decision Making (CDM).
  • Collects and analyzes data to monitor school and individual student progress to recommend strategies for improvement in all three tiers universal (Tier 1) group (Tier 2) and individual (Tier 3) as data dictates.
  • Trains school teams on best practices strategies and evidence-based interventions.
  • Coaches school teams in maintaining on-going communication among stakeholders to create a positive school climate and effective MTSS structures.
  • Attends and actively participates in professional development.
  • Attends models and leads restorative practices and/or other school-based meetings.
  • Serves on county school-based and/or state leadership committees.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned within the same classification or lower.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelors Degree in Education or related field of education from a regionally accredited college or university required;
  • Masters Degree in Education or related field of education from a regionally accredited college or university preferred;
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge skills and abilities deemed sufficient to prepare the employee to successfully perform the duties of the position.

Experience

  • Three (3) years experience with Restorative Practices leading a problem-solving team or CDM and coaching required;
  • Three (3) years successful classroom teaching experience preferred;
  • Three (3) years experience with the Special Education process preferred;
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge skills and abilities deemed sufficient to prepare the employee to successfully perform the duties of the position.

  • Knowledge of current trends and research in field of specialization.
  • Knowledge of and proficiency in technical areas of instruction.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities as a member of a school staff.
  • Demonstrated organization oral and written communication skills that demonstrate a professional demeanor.
  • Ability to employ a variety of teaching styles to respond to the needs of diverse learners.
  • Knowledgeable about the problem-solving process and its role in system/program evolution and response to intervention.
  • Demonstrated ability to collect analyze and use data.
  • Ability to use instructional technology hardware such as document cameras presenters and SmartBoards etc.
  • Demonstrates ability to effectively work and communicate with diverse populations.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with business technology applications (e.g. Video/Web Conferencing Microsoft Office Suite -Word Excel Outlook and/or PowerPoint preferred).

Licenses and Certifications
Employee must retain active licenses certifications and enrollment as a condition of employment.

  • Hold or be eligible for Restorative Practices Certification (including Training of Trainers) issued by International Institute for Restorative Practices (IIRP) preferred.
  • Hold or be eligible for Educator Certification: Advanced Professional Certificate (APC) issued by Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) preferred; or
  • Hold or be eligible for Educator License: Advanced Professional License (APL) issued by Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) preferred.
  • Hold or be eligible for Drivers License (DL) Class C Non-Commercial issued by Maryland or State of Legal Residence (MVA/DMV) required; and
  • Daily access to reliable transportation.

Driving Requirements

  • Driving is required to conduct bona fide Board business that is within the scope of employment in this position.
  • Personal Vehicle
