Job Description
JOB SUMMARY: Reporting to the OpenAg Facilities Manager the Greenhouse Technician will aid in both greenhouse and controlled environment settings to support the cultivation and growth of a variety of crops in UPLs greenhouses.
JOB RESPONSIBILITES:
- Seed transplant fill pots maintain plants and assist with greenhouse sanitation as needed.
- Apply Integrated Pest Management (IPM) principles and carry out scouting and pesticide applications when necessary.
- Assist other teams with harvests measurements and plantings on an as needed basis.
- Maintain greenhouse media and consumables inventory.
- Any other duties assigned by manager
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- 4-year degree from an accredited college or university preferably in a scientific or agricultural discipline.
- Minimum 1 year of experience growing plants in greenhouses or controlled environments.
- The candidate must be self-motivated and possess the initiative to identify and solve problems with minimum guidance.
- Ability to work in the United States on an on-going basis without company sponsorship.
- Must be willing to obtain and maintain NC Pesticide Applicators License.
- Must be able to work in greenhouse conditions and lift 50 pounds.
