As Mechanical Engineering Manager you will play a crucial role in designing and delivering the mechanical systems of our low-field MRI scanner. Your mission is to ensure the structural integrity reliability compliance and performance of the MRIs mechanical systems. From the machine frame to the inner structures enabling a compact reliable and accessible imaging platform.
Skills & Experience
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in mechanical design with at least 2 years in a leadership or technical lead role.
- Proven experience in complex mechanical system development ideally within a regulated industry such as medical devices aerospace or robotics.
- Proficient in SolidWorks for 3D modeling assembly management and drawing creation.
- Strong understanding of mechanical analysis techniques including static/dynamic stress modal thermal and vibration assessments using FEA tools.
- Hands-on experience with DFM/DFA tolerance stack-up materials selection and working closely with vendors/manufacturers.
- Deep familiarity with verification and validation processes aligned with regulatory frameworks.
- Knowledge of and experience working under ISO 13485 and IEC 60601 requirements.
- Strong communication documentation and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a small team of engineers responsible for mechanical design simulation and testing of MRI ME hardware.
- Define technical specifications and system requirements for all mechanical components of the MRI system.
- Conduct structural analysis using both hand calculations and finite element analysis (FEA) to validate mechanical integrity and safety.
- Oversee design prototyping fabrication assembly and testing of critical components including the machine chassis shields and antenna housings among other subsystems
- Drive the creation and review of detailed CAD models and technical drawings collaborating closely with manufacturing partners to ensure production-readiness and DFM best practices.
- Design and implement verification and validation (V&V) plans leading mechanical testing efforts and interpreting results against performance and regulatory benchmarks.
- Lead design reviews proactively identifying design risks and reducing unnecessary iteration through rigorous peer feedback and quality checks.
- Interface with the Head of Hardware and cross-functional teams (Electronics MRI Validation) to align on milestones integration and delivery timelines.
- Support to Colleagues and Contribution to Internal Collaboration (5% of Time)
