About the Role
The Manufacturing Project Engineer is responsible for managing and executing engineering projects related to new product introductions and production process improvements. This mid-level role ensures that manufacturing operations align with engineering specifications quality standards and project timelines. Ideal candidates will have experience in project engineering manufacturing operations CAD software and production planning along with strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities:
- Manage full-cycle implementation of new manufacturing projects using the APQP process to reduce launch risks
- Develop process plans including bills of materials routings and manufacturing drawings for new products
- Coordinate with internal teams vendors and clients to ensure project alignment and timely delivery
- Create and revise production drawings using CAD software to support accurate manufacturing
- Identify and resolve discrepancies in technical drawings or contractual requirements
- Calculate and define all manufacturing requirements for project success
- Conduct pre-production research and lead cross-functional planning and communication meetings
- Generate and manage engineering change orders and documentation
- Collaborate with quality assurance to support PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) requirements
- Assist production and quality teams with inspection and verification using precision measurement tools
- Maintain project documentation and reporting throughout all phases of execution
- Perform other engineering duties as needed within the scope of project and process development
Qualifications:
- Associates degree in manufacturing mechanical engineering or a related technical field
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a project engineering or manufacturing engineering role
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel Word Outlook)
- CAD software experience (Solid Edge preferred)
- Skilled in using precision measurement tools such as calipers and pin gauges
- Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes and production workflows
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering Manufacturing Engineering or a related discipline
- Experience with APQP and PPAP in a manufacturing environment
- Background in metal fabrication or OEM product manufacturing
- Knowledge of ERP or MRP systems in a production setting
- Experience supporting industrial construction or defense manufacturing projects
- Ability to manage multiple engineering projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
