Job Description

The SPLC is seeking a Regional Development Officer for Southern California who is passionate about racial and social justice!

The Development Officer Regional Los Angeles manages a regional portfolio of major donors and prospects creating and executing an individual strategy for each to build strong relationships between them and SPLC. This role works in the Los Angeles and Southern California area.

Who You Are

Results-Driven. Proven track record of soliciting and closing major gifts growing a fundraising program and able to balance big-picture thinking with attention to detail. Skilled in follow-through while working in a fast-paced environment that is deadline-driven.

Strategic. Ability to develop and implement strategic plans for each donor. Knowledge of evolving trends in fundraising and the ability to translate those into strategic and actionable goals.

Collaborative. Must be able to work independently and as part of a team. Skilled at working with programmatic staff to identify appropriate matches between their goals and donors priorities.

Articulate & Influence. Highly skilled in verbal and written communication including the ability to make persuasive and effective presentations and writing and editing proposals.

Resourceful. Ability to identify research and cultivate prospective donors while managing and building a portfolio of donors.

Mission Vision & Values Alignment.Demonstrates an understanding of and a commitment to SPLCs mission vision and values.

What Youll Do

Develop maintain and implement individualized strategies for each donor or prospect in the portfolio and prepare solicitations.

Regularly initiate quality communications with donors and prospects in the portfolio.

Conduct one-on-one meetings with donors and associated travel to donor meetings.

Maintain accurate and timely entry of interactions with donors in the development database.

Stay informed of SPLC programs and activities that would be relevant to donors interests.

Provide support for regional events as needed and support larger major giving teams.

Perform other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in this job classification.

Minimum Qualifications

We are committed to equitable hiring practices; therefore you must meet the minimum qualifications to be considered for the role.

  • Minimum 5 years of non-profit fundraising; and
  • High School Diploma or GED.

Compensation & Benefits

This is an exempt role and the minimum starting salary is $112286 annually. Salary will be commensurate with experience.

This job is performed under general office conditions and is not subject to any strenuous physical demands or dangerous conditions. This role works in the Los Angeles and Southern California area.

This position is represented by the Washington-Baltimore New Guild.
