Job Description
Position Summary:
TheSpecial Services Support Specialist provides specialized support for students placed in alternative and residential programs. This role serves as a case manager liaison and division representative ensuring compliance with special education regulations and continuity of services for students with intensive needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the IEP case manager for students placed in alternative and residential programs including monitoring progress and coordinating services.
- Act as the liaison between residential/alternative placement providers and the school division to ensure consistent communication and service delivery.
- Represent the division on the Family Assessment and Planning Team (FAPT) collaborating with community agencies to support students and families.
- Serve as the LEA designee in eligibility and IEP meetings ensuring compliance with IDEA and division procedures.
- Complete and maintain all required IEP and eligibility documentation including Prior Written Notice evaluation reports and service plans.
- Collaborate with school-based teams external agencies and families to support the educational behavioral and social-emotional needs of students in nontraditional placements.
Qualifications:
- Teaching License with Special Education Endorsement
- Demonstrated successful experience (3-5 years) in the field of special education
- Strong knowledge of special education processes eligibility and IEP development
- Experience with alternative or residential programs (preferred)
- Effective communication collaboration and case management skills
Terms of Employment:
Salary: Commensurate with education and experience
Contract: 11 month (220 day) contract effective August 1 2025
