Senior Database Architect
We are looking for a seasoned Database Architect with 12-15 years of experience to lead the design implementation and optimization of our enterprise database solutions. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in database architecture data modeling performance tuning and modern data platforms and will play a key role in shaping the organizations data strategy ensuring scalability reliability and security across all systems.
This is a contract-to-hire opportunity at Omni Fiber. Candidates must not require sponsorship now or in the future at this time.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement robust scalable and secure database architectures for transactional and analytical systems.
- Lead data modeling (conceptual logical and physical) for new applications and data integration projects.
- Define and enforce database standards best practices and governance policies.
- Evaluate and select appropriate database technologies (RDBMS NoSQL cloud-native) based on business requirements.
- Collaborate with application architects developers and DevOps teams to integrate databases into application ecosystems.
- Monitor and optimize database performance capacity and availability.
- Drive data migration transformation and modernization efforts including cloud migration strategies.
- Oversee backup and recovery strategies data replication high availability and disaster recovery planning.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend improvements to existing systems.
- Mentor junior data professionals and provide technical leadership across project
Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science Information Systems or a related field.
- 12-15 years of hands-on experience in database architecture administration and engineering.
- Deep expertise in relational database systems (e.g. Oracle SQL Server PostgreSQL MySQL).
- Strong experience with NoSQL databases (e.g. MongoDB Cassandra Redis) and cloud-native data platforms (e.g. AWS RDS Azure SQL Google Cloud Spanner).
- Proficient in data modeling tools and techniques (e.g. ERwin ER/Studio).
- Extensive knowledge of SQL performance tuning indexing and query optimization.
- Strong understanding of data security compliance and regulatory standards.
- Experience in DevOps CI/CD practices and database automation tools.
- Excellent analytical problem-solving and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Local to Allen TX and able to commute to the office a few days a week. If you are not local we will consider remote applicants.
- Telecommunications experience.
- Certifications such as AWS Certified Database - Specialty Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator or equivalent.
- Experience with big data platforms and data lakes (e.g. Hadoop Snowflake Databricks).
- Familiarity with microservices architecture and data mesh principles.
- Exposure to AI/ML-driven data architectures or real-time data processing frameworks (e.g. Apache Kafka Flink).
