Job Description: The special education paraprofessional serves as a supportive assistant to classroom and special education teachers. Under the supervision of a licensed special education teacher the paraprofessional may assist with classroom management data collection small-group and individual instruction coaching monitoring direction and redirection and at times physical support for students with special needs. Job QualificationsParaprofessionals are expected to hold a high school diploma or equivalent two years of post-secondary education or an associates should have prior experience working with children in a school skills include second language abilities and experience working with students with special needs. Duties and Responsibilities:Assisting students in achieving academic and social successesBehavior support using verbal de-escalation strategiesAbility to be trained in Safety CareConsultation and collaboration with Special Education and Regular Education Teachers as well as related service staffAny other duties as may be assigned by the building administrator
