Network Engineer
Reno NV - onsite
6 Month Contract to Hire
Pay rate: $55 - $60/hr on W2
Role Overview:
- The engineer will primarily support operations and maintenance (O&M) and various transmission distribution projects.
- Responsibilities include replacing serial ITU RTUs with IP RTUs adding equipment to substations and building new substations requiring communication setup. Technical Requirements:
- Experience with Cisco and Palo Alto technologies.
- Proficiency in configuring firewalls and switches.
- Basic knowledge of cabling infrastructure and general networking.
- Understanding of routing protocols primarily EIGRP and OSPF. Work Environment:
- The engineer will be the sole network engineer in Reno with support from the team in Las Vegas.
- Minimal travel required (5-10%) primarily to Las Vegas for team meetings.
- The engineer must be a self-starter and able to onboard quickly with remote support. Preferred Experience:
- Previous experience with both Cisco and Palo Alto firewalls is highly desirable. Additional Information:
- The position requires full-time presence in the office during the contract period to ensure smooth transition to full-time employment.
- Candidates should be prepared to work independently and have strong problem-solving skills.
- The role involves collaboration with other OT team members and remote communication via Teams.
